About Me

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Hello everyone! My name is Claire Hunt - I am an outpatient therapist, working now only in private practice. My background is in psychology and education, but starting as early as undergrad I developed an interest in working with Emerging Adults. I took a class with Jeffery Arnett, who coined the term “emerging adulthood” to mean the time period between ages 18-24 and who also has completed extensive research on how this time of people’s lives is greatly affected by culture. I was fascinated by this, but it wasn’t until later that I realized that with these individuals would be where I would want to focus my career.

I started connecting stories from my young adult clients -- many who were reporting sadness, anxiety, loneliness, uncertainty, and guilt over this time period supposedly being "the best years" -- Since then, I have worked with young adults who have had a wide range of life experiences but all report that these years feel formidable in some way.

I currently have my own practice in Cambridge, Massachusetts working predominantly with these young adults.

As a therapist and a prior supervisor, I have made it a point to lead with kindness and safety. The goal of each of my interactions, whether brief or extensive, is to act with kindness, gratitude, and to [at the foundation] be a safe person.
